Danny Wantz is an American filmmaker.
A Cleveland native, Danny infused his first film, Cleveland Response to Lebron James, with hometown passion and pride. The provocative parody launched his career and reached 2.2 million views in its first two days.
Danny has since defined himself as an excellent sports ad/film director with a gritty, forward-thinking, verite style that rouses viewers’ passions. Cutting new footage with raw news clips, he recently directed, produced, and wrote a stirring short about James’ potential return to Cleveland. His other recent and ongoing sports projects include directing and writing ad films for the Brooklyn Cyclones, Harvard Rugby, and GBX shoes.
As head of TV and video production at Bullett Magazine, Danny directed short films starring Carla Gugino and Donald Glover. He collaborated with talents such as John Waters, Michael Shannon, Paz de la Huerta, Michael Ian Black, Vincent Piazza, Alek Wek, Gilles Bensimon, Olaf Breuning, and Charlotte Free. Danny has filmed over fifty short films, documentaries, and interviews for the magazine. His work has been featured in and covered by a plethora of other media sources, including CNN, MSNBC, ESPN, The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, blackbook, Style, Fox, and Radar Online.
He has shot commercials for various clients including Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Harvard University, Makeup Forever, fashion designer Zoe Twitt, and Bullett Magazine.
